Preparation for the June 2014 exam

I am currently organising a class to prepare for the proficiency exam in June 2014. The plan is to start the class after Christmas.

As always, the idea is to get together one or two groups of four students (this reduces the price but is also an ideal number). Dates and timetable are negotiable, but I would anticipate starting in January and continuing until the exam, either with one two-hour class per week or two classes a week of one and a half hours each. 

The date of the exam is the 12th of June, which provides five months for preparation.

In the past year and a half eight of my students have entered for the exam and 6 have passed, so my students have a success rate of 75%.

The class is principally about exam preparation, which means we will work on exam techniques, we will focus on writing skills and the language focus will be very much on those areas of grammar and vocabulary that are particularly useful when doing the proficiency exam.

Preparation for the June Proficiency Exam

From early March I will begin a preparation class for the June proficiency exam. There are currently three people in the class, so if anyone is interested in preparing for the June exam there is a place in the class.

The exam is on the 13th of June, and the 20th of April is the last date on which you can register for the exam. You will find more information about the exam here.

My name is Oliver Sutton. I am an English teacher living in Barcelona, with 13 years of experience. In the last eight years I have specialised in preparing students for the Cambridge Proficiency Exam in language schools (I have worked for International House, The British Council and La Escuela Oficial de Idiomas).

I am now offering private tuition to small groups to prepare them for the Cambridge Proficiency Exam.

The idea is to create a group, or groups, of no more than 4 students to prepare for a specific exam (the next one is in December, 2012). In this way:

·       students will receive personal attention, both in class and with respect to their written work

·       the cost will not include all the overheads of a language school

·       the classes will be specifically designed for one exam date and with the strengths and weaknesses of the students in mind

·       there will be flexibility with respect to timetabling and location (although if no other preference is stated they will be held in my flat in the Born).
